Paris, 1653.

A delightful and remarkably uncommon account of seventeenth-century travel, distinguished by its suite of 34 charming full-page woodcut illustrations depicting the peoples, costumes, monuments, customs and curiosities encountered during the author's extensive journeys through the Mediterranean, the Levant, Persia and India. Executed in a direct and appealing style, the woodcuts possess a naïve vitality that lends the work much of its enduring fascination, providing a vivid visual counterpart to the text's observations on lands then little known to most European readers.

Generally in remarkable condition, bound in contemporary calf with gilt tooling. Rebacked (date unkown), providing the author portrait and dedicatory section in facsimile, or perhaps bound in from a later edition.
